Roberto Urquizo, Vice Minister of the Environment, informed that in November 2005, his ministry took the decision to participate in the "methane to market association".

Brief description of the project
Treatment of landfill gas at the Zámbiza landfill, through collection of fugitive emissions and flaring. The installation consists of a grid of approximate 50 gas wells. The gas is extracted through high-density polyethylene tubes (HDPE), then it is pumped to a flare, were the gas is burned at 1.200 C Celsius.
